		I-70 - Denver, CO (High wind warnings)	Approaching Denver Metro 4:00 AM
	Colorado	I-70 to Exit 232 & Idaho Springs, CO.	Another quick meal at 6:00 AM
Photo Trip		I-70 to Exit 167 & Avon, CO.	Took photos along the Eagle River. (Seriously cold)
(4 days)		I-70 to just past Glenwood Springs, CO.	Took photos along the Colorado River.
		I-70 to Exit 49 to Hwy 65 & Grand Mesa Scenic Byway	Drove up and over snow covered Grand Mesa
Utah		Hwy 65 to 92 to 50 through Delta, CO	This route to Grand Junction, CO and back to I-70.

Trip		Hwy 128 to Hwy 191 to Moab, UT	Always impressive drive to Moab, UT.
		Located a Motel in south end of Moab (2 nites).	Extremely cold and some wind in Moab.
		Drove to Sand Flats area at sunset.	Not much time but trying to find a good shot.
		Back to Moab & Chinese for Thanksgiving dinner.	Lucky to find a good restuarant open Thanksgiving Day.
		11/26
		Up 5:45 AM and a quick grab at breakfast buffet.	Hwy 191 south to Hwy 211 to CNP-Needles District.
		Stopped at Visitors Center to pay entry fee.	Drove to Elephant Hill Trailhead parking by 7:45 AM.
		Started hike to Chesssler Park at just before 8 AM.	No wind but fairly cold & only three cars in lot.
		Trail climbs briefly then traverses rock slabs.	At 1 1/2 miles trail passes between sandstone pinnacles.
		At 2 1/2 miles trail descends thru a crack into a drainage.	At 2 3/4 miles trail approaches Chessler Park.
		At 3 miles trail climbs to enter Chessler Park.	Took lunch break at first trail junction in park.
		Another 2 miles thru Chessler Park to the Joint Trail.	Chessler Park Loop Trail skirts perimeter
		Trail passes thru the parks center pinnacles.	Joint Trail follows a crack system between rocks.
		Hiked thru cracks 1/4 mile till Trail exits sandstone.	Returned back thru cracks & took a break.
		Starting to feel the hike & 5+ miles to return.	Sun dropped below horizon as we exited Chessler Park.
		Hiked out last 2 3/4 miles in dark on mostly rock.	The last mile was a bit painful on the knees.
		Back to Trailhead at just after 7 PM.	Chessler Park & Joint Trail - as good as gets.
		Drove 1 1/2 hours back to Moab - 8:45 PM.	Off season after 9 PM not much open in Moab.
		McDs and a six pack from City Market for dinner.	Feel like beatten half to death but hike was great.
		11/27
		Slept in till 11 AM & checked out by 12:30 PM.	To Smithy's for breakfast.
		Stopped at Visitors center in Moab.	Bought USGS topo of Chessler Park.
		Hwy 191 to Hwy 128 along Colorado River to Hwy 6.	This route back to I-70 eastbound.
	Colorado	Stopped along the way several times for coffee.	Took is somewhat easy on the way back.
		Continued eastbound to Burlington, CO by 11 PM	Motel (1) night
		11/28
		Up at 6:30 AM and quick breakfast in lounge.	On the road by 7:30 AM - eastbound I-70.
	Kansas	Returned to the decommissoned Walker Air Base.	Site is just off I-70 east of Hays, Kansas.
		Spent an hour here taking photos.	The base is now private property.
	Missouri	Back to I-70 eastbound and returning to St. Louis.	Arrived St. Louis Metro around 9 PM.

(4 days)		Hwy 285 South to Antero Junction and Hwy 24/285.	This route over Ten Mile Range to Hwy 285 South
		Hwy 285 South to Poncha Springs & Hwy 50	Hwy 50 westbound over Monarch Pass to Gunnison.
Colorado		Hwy 50 through Currecanti N.R.A to Montrose.	Hwy 50 to Hwy 550 south to Ouray, CO.
Photo		Hwy 550 to Amphitheatre Campground - (4 nites).	Arrived at 2 P.M. non-stop from St. Louis (21 hrs);
Trip		Set up camp and drove back to Ouray.	O'brien's Irish Pub" for dinner - turned in early.
		8/28
		Breakfast next day in Ouray at "Backstreet Bagels".	Hwy 550 to Silverton & Alpine Loop Byway CR 2.
		Stopped to look at Eureka, CO mine ruins on CR 2.	Continued on Alpine Loop to Animas Forks on CR 9.
		Over Cinnamon Pass on CR5/30 to American Basin.	Into American Basin on CR12 to Handies Trailhead.
		Hiked briefly into American Basin along the creek.	Hiked out on Handies Peak Trail & on to Lake City.
		Lunch at "Southern Vittals" in Lake City.	CR 20 from Lake City to Nellies Creek Rd. CR 23.
		Drove CR 23 up to Uncompaghre Peak trailhead.	Back to CR 20 & Palmetto Gulch to Engineer Pass.
		Over Engineer Pass & loop back to CR 2.	CR 2 back to Animas Forks & into California Gulch.
		CR 2 & back out to Silverton. (CR17/18 are bad).	Silverton to Ouray on Hwy 550 - good day but tired.
		To "The Outlaw" for dinner in Ouray.	Back to Amphitheatre Campground for evening.
		8/29
		Breakfast at "Backstreet Bagels".	On to Yankee Boy Basin on CR 361.
		Stopped at what is left of the Camp Bird Complex.	Continuing into Yankee Boy Basin on CR 26.
		Took 4WD route to Twin Falls.	Back to CR 26 & to Governor Basin on CR 8531C.
		CR 8531C is 4WD w/ rock slabs until above trees.	Explored mine buildings in Governor Basin.
		Back to Yankee Boy Basin and on to Imogene Pass	Took CR 26A 4WD road from near Sneffels.
		CR 26A becomes FR 869 at Upper Camp Bird.	Took FR 869 to just below Imogene Pass.
		4WD low missing & could not climb to Pass.	Back to Ouray via FR 869, CR 26A & CR 361.
		Took a break at "O'Brien's" to recover from driving.	Explored shops & galleries in Ouray couple of hours.
		To Ridgeway Hwy 62 & E. Dallas Creek. Rd. CR 7.	This route to Blue Lakes Pass Trail & back to Ouray.
		Dinner at Mexican "Buen Tiempo" in Ouray	Back to Amphitheatre Campground for evening.
		8/30
		Breakfast at "Backstreet Bagels" again.	Hwy 550 to CR 10/8 to Owl Creek Pass.
		CR 8 to CR 860A just east of Courthouse Tower.	Drove south to near the closure point of CR 860A.
		Back to CR 860 & on to near Silver Jack Reservoir.	Returned westbound from Silver Jack Reservoir
		Drove FR 863 East Fork Cimarron River south.	This route to Uncompaghre Wilderness Trailhead.
		Returned to CR 860 & CR 8/10 to Ridgeway.	Took break at "Cimarron Books & Cafe" Ridgeway.
		Hwy 62 to Hwy 145 to Telluride.	Spent couple of hours in shops & galleries Telluride.
		Returned to Ouray from Telluride.	Dinner at O'Brien's Irish Pub".

		Broke Camp & loaded for return trip to St. Louis.	Breakfast at Backstreet Bagels - Left Ouray at 10:30 AM

		Hwy 70 to White Sands National Monument.	To visitors center and Loop Drive into the dunes.
		Loop Drive to Hwy 70 to 54 to Alamogordo, NM.	Picked up a few items in Alamogordo.
		Hwy 54 to Hwy 82 up canyon to Cloudcroft, NM	This route to Cloudcroft & The Lodge at Cloudcroft.
		Hwy 82 down canyon & back to Alamogordo.	Hiked to the Mexican Trestle at edge of Cloudcroft.
		Hwy 82 to Hwy 54 to Hwy 70 to White Sands.	Eventually made it back into Park for sunset on dunes.
		Hwy 70 and back to Las Cruces for the night.	One hour plus drive back to Las Cruces and motel.

		Back to Grand Canyon Market Plaza	Bought instep crampons & breakfast at General Store.
		Market Plaza to Mather Point parking area.	This route to new Visitor Center Complex.
		Visitor Center shuttle to South Kaibab Trailhead.	This is now the only way to access S. Kaibab Trailhead.
		Put instep crampons on and proceeded down trail.	Crampons helped - waited for mules on switchbacks.
		Continued on trail to "Oh My God Point".	Took a break & some photos at this point & returned.
		Back to Visitors Center & Mather Point parking area.	On to overlook of Little CO River Gorge - 40 miles.
		Back into G.C.N.P. and on to Navajo Point.	At Navajo Point for sunset.
		Returned to G.C. Market Village.	Dinner at Yavapai Cafeteria.
		Vistors Center shuttle for sunrise at Yaki Point.	This is the only access to Yaki Point. (or walk in)
		Back to Visitor Center & to Grand Canyon Village.	Breakfast at Bright Angel Lodge Restaurant.
		To Hermit Road shuttle and Maricopa Point.	Paid respects at Powell Point & walked to Hopi Point.
		Stopped at all Points and finally Hermits Rest. (8 miles)	Mohave Point,The Abyss, and Pima Points.
		Back to G.C. Village & a break at Maswik Cafeteria.	On to "Duck-on a Rock" & Grandview Point.
		On to Lipan Point, Navajo Point &Desert View.	Back to Yavapai Point at Sunset.
		Back to G.C. Village and Maswik Cafeteria.	Dinner here and back to motel in Tusayan. (totally shot)
		Too tired to get up at sunrise. (overcast - no light)	Breakfast at adjacent Restaurant in Tusayan.

		Waited an hour in overcast sky on top of Daniel Hill.	Took Lost Trail Road toward Lead King Basin.
		Lost Trail Road eastbound switchbacks up to very high.	This road leads to a mountain side full of wildflowers.
		Spur road from Lead King Basin to Crystal, CO.	This so-called road is extremely rough in sections.
		CR 3 / CR 317 meet at spur road to Lead King Basin.	The road from this point to Marble only slightly better.
		CR 3 westbound from Crystal to Crystal Mill.	After hour of waiting finally got some light on the mill.
		CR 3 to Marble to Hwy 133 to Redstone, CO.	Motel (1) night in Redstone.

Trip to		In line to check out :"Top Thrill Dragster"	Mechanical problem closed ride so we moved on.
Cedar Point		On to "Magnum XL-200"- 1st steel coaster over 200'.	Brief rain delay - and then a great ride in first car.
		Next "Millennium Force"- 1st steel coaster over 300'	In last car and the first drop is massive.
		On to the "Mantis" - a stand-up steel coaster.	Good ride but will whip your head in the tight loops.
		Finally back to "Top Thrill Dragster"	Waited an hour plus thru 3 mechanical shut downs.
		"TTD" accelerates to 125 mph in 4 seconds.	Climbs to 420' in 4 more seconds or less.
		Drops 420' straight down w/ a 270 twist in 4 sec.	Rockets back to the start in 4 seconds.
		This ride is a religious experience.	"TTD" is a serious kind of next generation ride.
		On "Raptor" - the best inverted coaster out there	Always a great ride.
		On "Wicked Twister" - an inverted air powered coaster	Very fast - a definitely fine addition to Cedar Point.

		Crossed Mississippi River on I-155	Only two other bridges all the way to St. Louis.
		Stopped in New Madrid, MO.	Checked out location of Hunter-Dawkins House.
		Stopped in Sikeston, MO.	Wanted to stop at Lammert's but wait was too long.

		Stopped in Caledonia, MO for late breakfast	Breakfast at the Chocolate Garage Bakery.
Day Trip		Hwy E to CR 511 to two track left just past dry bridge	Parked at gate on this forest access two track
		Started hike at 12:45 PM	Hike up to & over a saddle about 1 mile to creek.
Explore		Odd little moss covered cascade at junction w/ creek.	Hiking upstream on left side of creek.
Lower		First about 1/2 mile is a generally flat granite slab.	A shallow streambed carved out of the granite.
Rock		Sharp left turn in creek & it gets moderately rough.	Trail in steep talus slope of granite rocks & boulders.
Creek		Another 1/2m upstream &arrive Dark Hollow.	40' shear granite cliffs covered by dark green moss.
		Boulder hopped thru creek for 100 yards plus or minus.	Creek is full of boulders and curves gently right.
		Huge boulders in the area of Dark Hollow.	An obvious campground on first bench this area.
		Upstream from Dark Hollow and it gets rough	No easy route upstream thru massive boulders.
		Climbed up steeply to find a skirting trail around rocks.	No trail found but we decided to climb higher.
		Stopped for a break on top of a 50' high rock band.	Spotted huge buzzard preening it's feathers above us.
		Back down to Dark Hollow area.	This slope is much steeper than it looks.
		Took another break and it was already 3:45 PM.	Decided to head back to St. Louis.
		We only made it through a little over half of this gorge.	Could see steeper cliffs farther upstream.
		Back to Hwy E to Hwy 21 to Arcadia and Andy's.	Andy's for a good burger, fries and shake.
		Returned to St. Louis via Hwy 21.	Back around 8:00 PM.

		Long's Peak Climb (Keyhole Route)	Up at 1:00 AM and ready for climb.
Long's Peak		Long's Peak Ranger Station	Started hike at 2:00 AM .
Climb -Keyhole		Grant's Pass	Sunrise at Grant’s Pass.
Route		Boulderfield	Boulderfield by 9:00AM.
		Keyhole	Good little climb up to Keyhole.
		Traverse above Glacier Gorge	Bottom of Trough - 10:30AM.
		Trough	Long climb to top of Trough - Noon.
		Homestretch	This is pretty steep - started at 12:30 PM.
		Summit of Long's Peak	Topped out at around 1:00 PM.
		Decent	Left top at 2:45 PM.
		Long's Peak Ranger Station	Back by 6:30 PM.
		Day of Rest	Basically sleep & took it easy all day.
